Nelson Ackerman Eddy was born on June 29, 1901, in Providence, Rhode Island. His baritone voice made him a popular singer during the 1930s. Nelson is best-known for his onscreen collaborations with Jeanette MacDonald. They made eight movies together including Maytime and New Moon. Nelson and Jeanette also had a real-life romance that lasted for decades. In 1939 Nelson married Ann Franklin. He died on March 6, 1967 from a stroke.
