William Horatio Powell was born on July 29, 1892, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. His charm and sophistication made him one of Hollywood's most popular actors. He starred with Myrna Loy in fourteen movies including The Thin Man and The Great Ziegfeld. In 1931 William married Carole Lombard. They divorced two years later but remained close friends. He dated Jean Harlow from 1934 until her death in 1937. In 1940 William married actress Diana Lewis. William died on March 5, 1984 from cardiac arrest.
