Judy Holliday (June 21 1921 in New York City; † June 7th 1965 in New York City; actually Judith Tuvim) was an American actress and singer.
She was born as Judith Tuvim (Tuvim means in Yiddish holiday so Holiday) in New York City as the only child of Abe and Helen Tuvim, were Jewish immigrants from Russia.
Judy Holliday won 1950 a Oscar and a Golden Globe's best actress for her role in Born Yesterday, the one and 1957 Tony Award for her role in the musical Bells Are Ringing.
It was the beginning of the 1950 target of an investigation of the Committee on Un-American machinations of the House of Representatives. Although it was quickly reinstated after a brief prohibition again, she got the film but no major roles more.
She married 1948 composer Dave Oppenheim, was divorced in 1957 and has a son (Jonathan Oppenheim, * November 11 1952). She died shortly before her 44th Birthday of breast cancer.
