May Robson was a successful stage actress of the 19th Century, in the 1930s, embodied in several successful Hollywood films, the "nice old lady next door." For her starring role in Frank Capra's comedy Lady for a Day 1934, she received her only Oscar nomination. In the 1933er film version of Alice in Wonderland, she played the Queen of Hearts.
