May Robson was a successful stage actress of the 19th Century, in the 1930s, embodied in several successful Hollywood films, the "nice old lady next door." For her starring role in Frank Capra's comedy Lady for a Day 1934, she received her only Oscar nomination. In the 1933er film version of Alice in Wonderland, she played the Queen of Hearts. Typical for her role she played in A Star Is Born in 1937 as a grandmother Lettie in The Adventures of Tom Sawyer as Aunt Polly, as well as in Bringing Up Baby as Aunt Elizabeth, both 1938th Until her death at the age of 84 she was working actively as an actress.
