Shirley BoothShirley Booth was primarily a stage actress. Her Broadway debut she had already in 1925 in the play Hell's Bells on the side of Humphrey Bogart. Overall, they played until 1970 in numerous plays on Broadway. Her movie debut was in 1952 with the film Come Back, Little Sheba. Director Daniel Mann brought this play by William Inge in 1950 with her first lead role on Broadway in the premiere and filmed it in 1952 with Burt Lancaster as her partner. For this first film role she was awarded in 1953 Academy Award as best actress and also a Golden Globe.

During her career, she twice won an Emmy (1962 and 1963) and three times a Tony Award (1949, 1950 and 1953).

Shirley Booth married in 1929 Ed Gardner, from whom she was divorced in 1942. In 1943, she married William V. Baker, and a widow was started 1951.
