Plot:
Detective Mark McPherson is investigating the murder of a young woman named Laura. The main suspects are Waldo Lydecker (Laura's mentor), Shelby Carpenter (Laura's fiance) and Ann Treadwell (Laura's aunt). As he learns more about the case Detective McPherson becomes obsessed with Laura and her beautiful portrait. He is shocked to discover that Laura is still alive and it was another woman who was murdered. Now Laura becomes a suspect in that murder and the detective must find out what really happened.
