Plot:
Dorothy is unhappy with life on her Kansas farm and dreams of going somewhere over the rainbow. A tornado takes Dorothy and her dog, Toto, to Munchkinland where she meets the Good Witch of the North and is given a pair of ruby slippers. To get back home Dorothy must travel down the yellow brick road and find the mysterious Wizard of Oz. On her journey she meets a scarecrow, a tin man, and a cowardly lion. They help Dorothy get to Oz and protect her from the Wicked Witch of the West.

- W.C. Fields and Ed Wynn were offered the role of The Wizard of Oz
- Buddy Ebsen was originally cast as The Tin Man but he was replaced by Jack Haley because he was allergic to the make-up
